Excellent article, as usual. I have a two-part comment:

1. Moral absolutes are ideal, but only apply to the individual. Society, by it’s very nature, demands a certain degree of sacrifice of individual sovereignty. Which leads us to the concept of “laws”. Laws designed to protect us from the transgressions of others promote individual liberty, while laws that are designed to protect us from ourselves promote tyranny. I believe that we have too many laws to protect us from ourselves (e.g. bicycle helmets and seat belts). Anti-baby-murder laws protect the unborn from the transgressions of others, and I therefore consider them good laws. Which brings us to point 2:

2. Life does not “begin” at some point in time. LIFE is not able to be defined by scientists; life is a continuum that began at the time of Creation, and continues from there. That in itself makes the defense of all life even more sacred. The PERSON begins at conception, and is a unique expression of the created gift of life. Hence an even more sanctified existence, whose destruction brings even greater judgement; not mine, but God’s.

Hang in there and don’t despair. Many people have or are experiencing what sounds like you maybe feeling. You’re not alone.

With the end of things there is always a beginning and we have our part.
